Meet the Founder
Basel Ismail is the founder and lead developer of Skillful.sh and CEO of FirmAdapt, an AI-powered business diagnostics and solutions company that audits organizations to identify operational inefficiencies before deploying tailored AI agents and automation. He built Skillful.sh to solve a problem he encountered firsthand: the AI agent tool ecosystem was fragmented across dozens of directories, and there was no single place to discover, compare, and evaluate the security of MCP servers, skills, and agents.
A financial engineer and data scientist turned technology entrepreneur, Basel holds an MBA from Cornell University with prior experience at Goldman Sachs, American Express, Yahoo!, and Scotiabank. He spent over a decade leading global task forces in business process re-engineering and AI automation before channeling that expertise into building products at the intersection of AI and enterprise operations. His background in quantitative analysis and risk management directly informs the security scoring methodology used on Skillful.sh.
Basel is also the founder of Blockcircle, a financial market intelligence and trading platform, and BetterEnrich, an advanced multi-stage waterfall-based data enrichment service. His work spans the full stack of data-intensive applications, from real-time market data pipelines to AI agent orchestration.
