EmbedPDF

Pluggable runtime layer that abstracts over multiple PDF engines (PDF-ium, Web Workers, mocks, etc.) to provide a unified API for rendering, search, annotation, and other document-level operations in EmbedPDF.

Engine v3 core: AbortablePromise, Engine/DocumentHandle interfaces, DTOs, wire schemas, error codes, and a transport-agnostic conformance harness shared by every Engine implementation.

Engine v3 local implementation: the EmbedPDF Runtime (our PDFium fork) as WASM inside a Web Worker (or inline for Node), driven by an O(log n) abort-aware WorkerQueue. Speaks the same Engine interface as the cloud engine.

Engine v3 service implementations: synchronous, runtime-agnostic logic that runs identically inside the local WASM worker and the @cloudpdf/server worker_thread.
