Why List Your Tool
Skillful.sh is searched by developers looking for MCP servers, skills, and agents. Getting listed puts your tool in front of developers who are actively looking for solutions in your category. Unlike posting on social media (where visibility is temporary), a directory listing keeps generating discovery traffic indefinitely.
Your listing also benefits from cross-referencing. If your tool is already listed in other directories, its Skillful.sh listing will show its presence across those sources, which serves as a quality signal for potential users.
The Submission Process
Log into your Skillful.sh account and navigate to the Publisher dashboard. The submission form asks for basic information: tool name, GitHub repository URL, description, category, and type (MCP server, skill, or agent). If your tool is published on npm or PyPI, provide the package name so we can pull metrics automatically.
After submission, the tool goes through a review process. We verify the repository exists, check that the tool functions as described, and compute an initial security grade. Most submissions are processed within a few days.
Making Your Listing Effective
The description you provide in the submission is what appears in search results. Make it specific and keyword-rich. "PostgreSQL MCP server with read-only access, natural language querying, and schema exploration" is much more discoverable than "Database tool."
A good README in your GitHub repository improves the listing quality. We pull additional context from your README, so the better it is, the more information appears in your listing.
Tags help with discovery too. Choose tags that describe what your tool does (postgres, database, sql), what it connects to (mcp, ai-tools), and what use cases it serves (data-analysis, development). Relevant tags ensure your tool appears in category browsing and filtered searches.
After Listing
Once listed, your tool's metrics are tracked automatically. Download counts, star counts, security grades, and maintenance activity all update regularly. You can view your tool's performance through the publisher analytics dashboard.
Keep your tool maintained and your README current. Actively maintained tools rank higher in search results and receive better security grades. Both directly impact your listing's visibility and the confidence users have in adopting your tool.
